After the birth of his daughter Jack Radcliffe (like most parents) felt moved to document her growth. His photos aren't limited to the typical first bike ride and her first holidays spent swathed in crinoline dresses. He wanted to see everything. He wanted to remember Alison sulking with Siouxse Sioux-esque eye make and even documented the first time he caught her smoking. He wasn't afraid to capture her after she'd shaved her head. Or if he was afraid he used photography to confront those moments when being a parent was a little scary. My own mother would have kept a hat on me had I ever shorn my own hair off. But Radcliffe was interested in the journey his daughter embarked on finding herself. Unlike a usual family photo album Radcliffe sought the truth of her emotional growth into an adult.I can't help but listen to Alison by Slowdive right now.

Weirdly Alsion mosshart shaved her haead as well, when she was younger. These photos haven't come up due to my dinasour computer, but I'll check them out net wise.

I have seen the all the photos he took of his daughter. It is truly a journey of a troubled daughter's life since I think (if I remember correctly) she was manic depressive.
I shaved my head when I was 19 and wore it with long bangs. Yep, I was gothic. :)
One of the most "freeing" feeling things I ever did.

Wow, these pictures are wonderful, I really wish my parents are taken more pictures, or at least documented us kids, not just at birthdays and when we were happy, but when were other moods, as well.

lovely, thanks for posting up...I had a shaved head too, from 15-19, of course things like that don't stick out too much when you live in nYc but you know, it was still liberating as hell for a girl who loved ciggies, Sinead, and boys with make up.
