"Love Will Always Love You"

Dear Readers,
I love you.
Many people see today as a an occasion to mourn if they haven't got a significant other. Please don't despair if you don't have an eros love. Growing up my mother always made Valetines Day a celebration of all love. So rejoice with you friends, mothers, fathers and brothers as well as lovers. Since the summer I've made a concious decision to become as much of a loving and accepting person as I can. There are alot of people out there who need acceptance. Even if you don't agree with someone's opinion or lifestyle, you can accept them.
I can't FedEx chocolates to each and every one of you so I've decided to share some great photos of Jennifer Herrema from RTX's myspace page that I'm finding to be very inspirational. Be sure to check out they're new stuff. "Cheap Wine Time" is my favorite.

Turn, Turn, Turn...

Have you ever been afraid of your style changing? After you've identified yourself with a look and you start to feel like someone different it can be overwhelming. On Sunday when I realized that I put together an outfit with no black I panicked alittle. "Do I look too normal"? I wondered. Has wearing black become an mental obligation/uniform? Uniforms are dull and if I'm feeling something else I need to branch out. I'm discovering that pink is not evil. Dusty rose is actually a cool colour. Now, don't think that I'm going to be dressed head to toe in prep gear or ugg boots(I can't seem to shake my dirty hippie tendencies, nor do I want to). I'm feeling less androgyny and more pale colours with a Jennifer herrema kind of twist. I'm also loving the way some japanese women manage to wear feminine clothing without looking super sweet. It's more like a short, dusty rose chiffon dress with ripped jeans and fierce black pointy heels kind of thing (or quriky pointed flats). And there's got to be a dropwaist belt with some form of hardware on it. A true contradiction. Think Alison Mosshart at the Chloe fragrance launch.

To get a bit personal, this is due to me feeling less like brooding. I think I'm getting a better outlook.

Icon: Jennifer Herrema

This stylish beauty always looks like she's ready to rock. Her babydoll face sunken behind a curtain of hair downplays her ferocity behind a microphone. She formed the band Royal Trux in 1985 with her then boyfriend Neil Hagerty and they rocked out together for eleven years. During that time they made many records that experimented with every realm of rock. Jennifer became a model for Calvin Klein and started a clothing line which reflected her years of customizing her own clothing. Her duct tape and fur adorned look screams Jennifer and is almost always accompanied by a shiny, big-as-Texas belt buckle. When they seaperated in 2001, band and relationship, Neil let her have the name Royal Trux which she transformed into RTX and continued her rock n' roll dream, but did it a bit louder this time. Neil formed Neil Hagerty and the Howling Hex. They play a sometimes funky, well infused trip hop, 60's and rock n' roll sound. Royal Trux, Howling Hex and RTX always fill my rock n' roll fix the same way Jennifer's radical style fills my fashion eye candy needs.
