Black Ice

The lovely Nadia from Ice.com sent me an amazing pearl necklace set. These iridescent black freshwater pearl necklace and bracelet are beautiful. Another item I fell in love with was the 100 inch black pearl necklace but it was sold out. Still, I am very happy with my choice. I didn't quite know what to expect with iridescent black pearls but I'm delighted with the surprise. The muted green and purple tones are certainly not black but they make me feel like I truly have a treasure from the sea. I might use the teal velvet pouch to house a rock collection (yes, I'm a dork) or dried flower petals. A dreamer like me couldn't ask for more.

"All the stars and boulevards..."

Dear Readers,

Sorry for the lack of updates. I probably won't be able to type much for a while. Probably just some photos or music videos instead. In the mean time I need a new favortie magazine. Any suggestions? Alot of people have become displeased with my former favorite, Nylon. I won't judge. All I'll say is that people grow and change and I suppose magazines do too.
For now, I'm obsessed with this song and video. I've actually loved it for years. There's a feel about it that I can't describe. I just know that it's the kind of song you can play for hours and hours in the summer. Especially from twilight into the evening.
Hope all is well,
xo

Jack Radcliffe: Alison

After the birth of his daughter Jack Radcliffe (like most parents) felt moved to document her growth. His photos aren't limited to the typical first bike ride and her first holidays spent swathed in crinoline dresses. He wanted to see everything. He wanted to remember Alison sulking with Siouxse Sioux-esque eye make and even documented the first time he caught her smoking. He wasn't afraid to capture her after she'd shaved her head. Or if he was afraid he used photography to confront those moments when being a parent was a little scary. My own mother would have kept a hat on me had I ever shorn my own hair off. But Radcliffe was interested in the journey his daughter embarked on finding herself. Unlike a usual family photo album Radcliffe sought the truth of her emotional growth into an adult.

I can't help but listen to Alison by Slowdive right now.

Two Suns

Bat For Lashes has a new record coming which means lots of new and inspiring photos of her whimsical outfits. I especially love the top photo. The print on the shirt is really interesting (A pile of skulls? Chemicles combusting?) and the slew of colored bracelets remind me of playing dress up as a kid. Bat For Lashes dresses like a magpie, collecting seemingly magical clothing in every place she travels and wearing them with an everday effortless attitude. Totally comfortable in what she likes despite the extreme eccentricity of her look; that is true style.
