Oh Marla

I haven't watched Fight Club in about a million years. Marla, who was addicted to support groups (amongst other things) was quite memorable and scared me a little. With her messy hair, sunken eyes and strange sickly visage, she looked like someone you might avoid in a city after dark. Despite that I did like her clothes. Now I see that her scruffy disposition was a fitting contrast to her vintage dresses with their sequins and pearl details (and also perfect for her black fur coat). Looking at Marla now makes me want to cut my hair again and buy a big, floppy hat. I think I'll be stopping by Block Buster sometime soon.

I have a real soft spot for the contrast; girlie dresses worn by a
wild woman.

You always seem to cover people and characters that are overlooked. Let me know if you ever need a contributor...I would be interested in writing something.

Ah, I love Helena Bonham Carter, and all the characters she plays.

I can't tell you how much I LOVE Fight Club! Marla is sooo cool, she's a little bit crazy but totally vulnerable...but then the best characters always are!

I have to agree there, Marla's an awesome fashion muse - I'm off to dig out my fight club DVD and have another look! When I see wedding/bridesmaid's dresses in vintage shops I always think of when she says "Someone loved it intensly for one day then tossed it" or words to that effect...would you like to swap links? Char x

Fight Club!
Hello. I like the book more than the film actually. Marla is a very interesting character- perhaps my favourite. These are cool shots of her.

Come to think of it, I don't think I've even seen his mohawk spiked at all. Yes, I loved his hair then.

I've never seen Almost Famous, but I want to. I agree, I like reading both the books and watching the films, more interesting. I like the book (Fight Club) a lot because I like the way Chuck Palahniuk writes. Its still a great film though.
