"I'm not really a girly-girl"

If that is how you describe yourself Carolina Glaser is the designer for you. But her line isn't completely androgynous. I imagine a rebellious little girl who has worn out her dresses climbing trees wearing these clothes. Glaser's unapologetically patch worked pieces in muted grungy greys, creams, dusty pinks and charcoals aren't afraid to get a little dirty. And they are nothing like table clothes. The combination of different fabrics in a similar color range makes for an interesting display of imperfection. I'm especially in love with her simple slip-like dresses. I'd imagine they'd work for the dress and jeans look I've been picturing. My inner tom boy (or rebellius little girl) has to be prepared for anything.

Ryan Adams has been in the back of mind, on the tip of my tongue and just below my radar for years. Now I've finally given him my attention. I wish I'd opened my ears sooner. But I may not have been ready. I'm the first person to say no to country. But he can be quite blue grass as well (which I accept) and rock n' roll so I'll take what he gives me with an open mind. The Cardinals blog is pretty inspiring too. I stayed up way too late writing in my journal after reading it last night.

I learned about Mika Nakashima when the infamous Lulu briefly wrote about her. She is a Japanese singer and actress. Mika played a true punk rock chick in the film adaption of Nana (a manga I am currently reading and loving.) That's all I know about her work. I've been distracted from my usual posting research by her style. I'm impressed with the way she can wear a dress and jeans without looking like a shopping cart lady or fashionista gone wrong. I'm interested in giving it a try myself. Keeping her looks in mind will be quite helpful. The blue-green lacey dress over the ripped jeans has me especially smitten. Vintage shopping here I come...
