Icon: Devendra Banhart

^by Gail Garcia Bernal

Some peoples clothes stand apart from them, making the wearer look costumey. While others clothes accentuate they're personality. Devendra Banhart is an example of the latter. I barely notice his hoop earrings and bangles. The seem to be a crucial part of him, like his hair or his eyes. Devendra has the ability to make a denim three piece suit seem totally cool and casual. Covered head to toe in lace and beads and bangles he looks more like a painting than a crazier Frida Kahlo. And he has some of the best hair I've ever seen. The onyx waves and curls look like ribbons of ink in paint water.

I still don't have any of his records. But he has secured a place on my record shopping list. At first I didn't know what to make of his unusual vocals that quivver like a rivers surface in the rain. I've come to be intrigued. Give him a try.

I confess I haven't listened to him but I love the way he looks!

His style is often shocking and unconventional but somehow he pulls it all together, and that's what I love about him. He's never boring

I hadn't listened to him until this post and I do find him intriguing. Funny thing is, that is probably the 5th version of 'Summertime' I've heard this week, this being my absolute favorite.
