G R U N G E

I'm pretty interested in Michael Lavine's new book Grunge. His photographs chronicled this era of music so well because of his friendships with his subjects (the awesome musicians of the time.) Now that I'm a photography student I really appreciate the darkroom techniques that he used on some of the photos. Another aspect of this book that I'm interested in is the people themselves. I founded this blog on my fascination with the subcultures that are created by music. I still get excited when I got to a show and a lot of the people dress in a similar way. I am interested in how one can translate sound into color, texture and silhouette. I also admire the creativity that music fans used to have to put into making and altering they're clothes. (Remember, there was a time when you couldn't walk into the mall and buy a fishnet shirt, torn t-shirts and see dog collars advertised as human jewelry). Because of this, I might be more excited to see his photos of music fans more than the musicians. Music has been a huge influence on my dress for a long time now and I don't think that will change. As I get older, I'll probably tweak it here and there so that I'll look my age, but everyone will know that I still love to rock.

I own this book. I got it for my birthday because I used to head to the grunge shows in Washington State when I was 18-22 years old.

It is definitely worth the price because the photos are gorgeous and the subjects fascinating. As a photographer, I really love the photos this book.

Wow this book, Grunge, seems great. What I love about photographers like this is that they are able to truly depict history though resources, fashion, and friendships. I want to get this novel!!

Oh. This is amazing.
I think I'm going to buy this book too.

I understand what you're saying, actually. It's really quite interesting. But not that difficult to understand. Or so I think, haha.
I mean, if you look at the Punks, the fans started dressing a certain way to make a political and social statement. A way to break free.
But then again, I don't understand why indie fans dress the way they do. Or maybe I haven't gotten into it.

Thanks for bringing this book to our attention. I love grunge music, style everything. That is why I love Rick Owen's Glunge style, because it allows a thirty year old to stay glamour glungy

I think this is a magnificent piece of work!
What I want to point is that this blog is so modern, besides so, I think that the stuff shown in here is pretty good looking and beautiful.
I would like to get not only Generic Viagra, but some items like the ones in there.
Keep up the good work!
