The Butler Did it...

It seems that in this current century everyone has wanted their jeans to look like they've been worn to death. The factory approach to tattered design can often result in an extremely fake look. Tell-tale sings are symetrical abrasions and tears (excluding knee holes), too dark denim with rips and holes strategically placed to display, erm, mating tools. A.P.C. customers will be happy to know that the company has found a way for you to purchase jeans who's lives have been depleted by actual humans. The name, Butler Worn Out Series, indicates that you don't have to do the dirty work. The company is encouraging customers to bring their old jeans to an A.P.C. store. By doing so you can purchase brand new jeans half price. This allows someone else to buy your lived in jeans for themselves. This does sound interesting. It eliminates the cost of breaking down denim in a factory, and is a greener approach to shopping in consumerism terms, but I'll stick with paying $2 for old jeans in thrift stores. What do you guys think?

I think the thrift store way is much thriftier! I haven't really had a desire for the ripped-up look. I think it's for the younger chicks!

I never understod buying a ripped up pair of jeans at a store for a huge price tag. Why not get a pair of jeans and rip them up yourself, paint them, tear them, whatever?

So much more satisfying and not as spendy.

I had an idea where we could give new jeans to underprivileged teenagers all over the world and when they'd worn them through and through, they'd give them back to the company and the company would give them new jeans.

Lolz.

I prefer the thrift store approach myself. The glory of broken in jeans is not in how they look, it's how they feel. No factory could replicate that!

Gerry, that's a really cool idea. You could make a mint on it and do a lot of good.

--Where I live we have a lot of really good thrift shops, so I'm partial.

Stick with the authentic $2 jeans! I hate it when people buy pre-ripped jeans-so poser! Not to mention with thrifted stuff you know that a really cool person probaably owned it b 4 you!
